The feeling that these eldritch beings from outside our galaxy had taken notice of us was a little unnearving for me, but then the Catalyst happened. The ME 1 and some of ME 2 Reapers had that Cuthulu feel, sure they were constructed by something, but so was the Marker. Is the Marker trying to help Issac or not?Īlso, seeing as how the Marker and Reapers are obviously Lovecraftian, which would you and this is a subjective question feel is the most true to that theme? In Dead Space, the visions of Nicole urged Issac to "Make us whole." and actively tried to help him return the Marker to its pedastal, but in Dead Space 2 the visions are hostile to Issac and attempt to destroy him. But while the Reapers indoctrination is clear cut in what it's purpose is make the affected organic a thrall under Reaper control, the Marker (at least to me) seems to have a duality to it. Also the effects of both are detremental to the people around them hallucinations, shared memories, and insanity are the results on all but the most strong willed of individuals. Now in both games the effects of both the Reapers and the Marker are innate a dead Reaper and even a shard of the Marker radiate this force. the Indoctrination effect of the Reapers. Anyway my question is about the effects the Marker has on Issac vs. Yeah I'm kinda late to the party on Dead Space I only just finished the first game and am now doing a playthrough of the second.

After playing Mass Effect and all the DLCs, I picked up Dead Space to get my Sci-Fi fix.
